Skeletons and fastballs

Hey, special bonus Bandwagon this week. Hannah Keyser returns to talk about a new video story she has just published at CNN.

You have probably noticed, in the drumbeat of watching or reading about baseball, that you can't avoid pitchers throwing 100 mph. It's not that you'd want to avoid them — they're very fun to watch, impressive for their limit-pushing ability or their return to the pinnacle, etc. But you might also worry about the ramifications. A lot of 100 mph, necessary but obvious studies report, probably means a lot of arm injuries and worries about the future of the sport.

Hannah went to Driveline, talked to prominent baseball surgeon Dr. Keith Meister and dove into the incentives that keep velocity readings ticking up and up and up. The story is part of a series called CNN Explains, which you can watch with a subscription to CNN's digital offerings.

We talked about that story, and the ongoing conversation around pitcher health, and later, the baseball news of the week.
